DANCE FIGHT GROW

  • is a method that combines the art of movement and personal growth.
  • inspires movement and contact.
  • strengthens strength, self-confidence and health.

We develop our creativity and lightness on the basis of contemporary dance, contact improvisation and Filipino stick martial arts. The whole person, his motor skills, his psyche, his thinking and feeling are addressed via the movement of the body. Dance and fight are old, real human activities that cross cultural borders and are more relevant today than ever. We are what we are as human beings because we have been doing this for centuries. They let us grow, develop and progress. Proximity and distance, standing in life, asserting yourself and goals, dealing with stress, being flexible and permeable, offering a clear counterpart … are very current skills and important issues in our lives today. In an atmosphere of acceptance and trust, dance-fight-grow offers a space for self-development for everyone. Play, exchange, be in the flow, learn, let yourself go, curiosity, joy and change are part of the training … Together, for each other, towards and away from each other … We expand our comfort zone and find inner freedom and balance.

The practical work usually consists of two parts.
The first part is the technical movement, dance and (stick) combat training. A basic vocabulary for movement, dance and combat. Drills, rhythm games and differentiated stroke sequences of flowing elegance promote right-left and eye-hand coordination and bring us into our strength and uprightness. Rolls, turns, jumps, lifts (lifting techniques) … give us permeability and flexibility.
In the second part, we integrate the moving and the practiced. Body work, relaxation, deceleration support us at the moment awake and clearly to communicate without words. Let yourself be touched and moved, immersing yourself in the senses, training perception, with each other, towards each other, away from each other…. a space full of ideas, creativity, uniqueness, pictures and stories is created. What does it mean to be in the moment? To be in the river and free? We lead the improvisation out of arbitrariness and marvel at the result and the influence on our everyday life.

Contemporary dance & contact - improvisation

Relax, be open and sensitive to each other and at the same time be very alert, playful and, if necessary, responsive. Soft, flowing movements alternate with alert, clear reactions. We deepen contact techniques such as lifts, falls, jumps and work on principles such as sharing weight or using the momentum. Feel the partner’s movements, follow them or immediately take them in as an impulse – experiment, dare, discover new things.
We create stories through the dances, play and improvise with and without contact.

Stickfighting

We work on the basis of different styles of Filipino stick martial art (Escrima, Arnis, Kali) with a long-standing tradition in which body awareness plays a crucial role in learning 12 basic strokes, different blocks and stroke sequences with one and two sticks. Stick martial arts encompass differentiated strikes of flowing elegance and offers a fascinating study of “body-mind-work”, right-left and eye-hand coordination, grounding, centering, delimitation and attention. In the advanced stage, we also work on self-defense aspects, tactical and strategic concepts for confrontation and confrontation and above all on ourselves. The work is designed for beginners who are introduced to basic exercises and rhythm work, as well as for advanced learners who develop the known, explore and deepen, and also want to learn new rhythms or forms of movement.
