Pia André

Pia has been studying and training martial arts (Aikido, Capoeira, Tai Chi, Ninjutsu, Escrima, Arnis, Kali) since 1982. In parallel, she discovered contemporary dance and contact improvisation and has practiced it since 1984.

She was trained, accompanied, supported and inspired by teachers such as Alessandro Certini, Anna Halprin, Bernd Ka, Charlotte Zerby, Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, Gakku Homma, Julyen Hamilton, Karen Nelson, Kirstie Simson, Lilo Stahl, Michael André-Korbl, Nancy Stark Smith, Soto G. Hoffmann, Steve Paxton, Thích Nhât Hanh …

1990 – 1994 she was a member of “Bewegungsungs e.V. Freiburg”.

For over 30 years she has been dancing, teaching and researching freelance in a wide variety of contexts, including Dance and theater training, dance and theater festivals, clinics, teacher training and further education, congresses and training courses for managers throughout Germany and Europe.

She participates in international dance companies and cooperates with musicians, actors and visual artists.

From the intensive preoccupation with the principles of dance, martial arts and body work, she developed her own method and art of movement that involves the whole person (body and mind).

The concept of Dance – Fight – Grow (new dance and stick fighting art) is now being taught in seminars, projects, part-time training courses and, since 2010, in her own training.

In doing so, it lays the foundations for the professional integration of the method into a wide range of practical fields, e.g. Theater, pedagogy, coaching, therapy, as well as leadership and management.
